The AiM IR Optical Lap Receiver with a 712 plug is a device that can be installed in your race car to receive lap signals from an infrared transmitter placed at the side of the track. By simply pointing the receiver towards the transmitter, it can read the signal with ease. This receiver allows a MyChron to sample lap time in the traditional way but by using the CAN bus protocol. This is useful, for example, when the GPS receiver cannot be used.
